Roland Gareis is a Professor for Project Management and Academic Director of the Professional MBA program “Project & Process Management” at the WU Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien). He has been engaged in research and teaching activities both as professor and visiting professor in various other schools besides NORDAKADEMIE, such as the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, ETH Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule in Zurich, Georgia State University in Atlanta, and the University of Quebec in Montreal.
He has published several books, such as “Happy Projects!”, “Processes & Projects” (with Michael Stummer), “Global Project Management” (with David Cleland) and a significant number of papers in leading scientific journals. Recently he edited a special issue of the “International Journal of Project Management” on “Changes & Projects” (together with Martina Huemann).
As consultant and trainer he has worked for numerous international organizations and in different industries in the fields of project & program management, the management of the project-oriented company, project portfolio management, process management, and change management.
He is also Managing Director of ROLAND GAREIS CONSULTING with offices in Vienna and in Bucharest. Additionally, he served a 15-year term as president of PROJEKT MANAGEMENT AUSTRIA, the Austrian Project Management Association, and worked as director of research at IPMA International Project Management Association for another 5 years.
Professor Gareis graduated from the WU Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration where he also completed his Ph.D. His habilitation degree was achieved at the University of Technology, Vienna, in the department of construction industry.
