Professor Smolarski is Chair of the Department of Accounting and Business Law, Director of the MACC/MSA Programs and Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Texas Pan American.The Italian government has also recently appointed Dr. Smolarski as Eminent Scholar.

Dr. Smolarski previously held positions at Stockholm University (Sweden) and at IE Business School in Spain. He has also lectured and pursued his research as guest professor at Shanghai University (China), State University of New York (USA), MIB School of Management (Italy), American University of Bulgaria (Bulgaria), Universidad de los Andes (Colombia), Ruon School of Management (France), Hochschule Liechtenstein (Liechtenstein), the International Banking Institute (Russia) as well as numerous other universities and institutions of higher learning.

Prior to returning to academia, he was the Chief Executive Officer at Trema Treasury Management, a global risk management software firm. He has wide-rage consultancy expertise by working for such prominent companies as Coca Cola, ICI, 3i, Fresenius, Motorola, China Telecom and other major market players.

His research has appeared in "Journal of Cost Analysis and Parametrics", "Thunderbird International Business Review", the "Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship", the "Journal of Private Equity", the "International Journal of Emerging Markets and Global Business" and "Organizational Excellence".
