Prof. Dr. Sebastian Fixson

Prof. Dr. Sebastian Fixson, Babson College, Wellesley, USA

Prof. Dr. Fixson is Assistant Professor of Technology and Operations Management at Babson College, Wellesley (Babson Park), Massachussetts, USA. At Babson, Professor Fixson teaches operations management and product development courses to both undergraduate and graduate students. Prior to joining Babson he taught at both business and engineering schools such as MIT’s Sloan School of Management, the University of Michigan’s College of Engineering, and Northeastern University’s School of Technological Entrepreneurship.

In addition, Professor Fixson conducts research and consults on various aspects of innovation, ranging from product architecture analyses concerning modularity and commonality, to operational process improvements in product development via better use of tools, methods, and design practices. His research work has appeared in books and journals including the “Journal of Operations Management”, “IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management”, “Creativity and Innovation Management”, “International Journal of Automotive Technology and Management”, “Research Policy”, “Technological Forecasting and Social Change”, and others. He also consults with a variety of industrial corporations on operations management issues (e. g. BMW, Ford, General Motors, Harley-Davidson, Volkswagen, as well as Alcoa, Boeing, Raytheon, Spirit Aerosystems, and others).

Prof. Fixson holds the degree of Diplom-Ingenieur (M.Sc.) in mechanical engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and a Ph.D. in Technology, Management, and Policy from the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.
