Financial Reporting is the process by which an entity informs external parties of their financial position and operations. Understanding this reporting and being able to analyze this information is important to gaining insight into the true financial health of an entity. This insight allows to make realistic valuations to help in the decision process of investing, lending, and/or merging purposes. The internationalization of an entity can increase the complexity of the reporting process which necessitates more thorough analysis.
This course is structured as an introduction to financial statement analysis in the global business setting. This course will help students understand the mechanics of the accounting process, comprehend the similarities and differences of the major accounting standards, and assess the valuation effect of financial statement elements and transactions. Participants will also gain an understanding of other important facets of financial statement analysis, such as income tax effects, actuarial implications, and the impact of foreign exchange rates.
