Admission requirements for foreign students

Voraussetzungen-für-duales-Bachelorstudium-NORDAKADEMIE-Checkliste

A dual study program is an excellent option for anyone who wants to combine theoretical education and practical work experience from the start of their career.

First of all, find out what a dual study program is and how a dual study program at NORDAKADEMIE works.

What requirements must international students fulfil in order to successfully apply for a dual Bachelor's degree program?

Accreditation of your foreign graduation certificate 🎓

For admission, you will need a certified German translation of your university entrance qualification, i.e. either your foreign graduation certificate that entitles you to study at a university or a translated, certified transcript of records of the degree program you started at the university.

As NORDAKADEMIE does not have its own recognition office for foreign degrees, we are unfortunately unable to issue recognition for foreign degrees. Assistance with the authorisation of foreign documents for university studies is offered by Uniassist, for example.

Check here whether your diploma is already officially recognised in Germany.

No NC at NORDAKADEMIE - but an online application process 🎉

In contrast to many traditional degree programs in Germany, for which a numerus clausus (NC) applies, universities usually rely on a special assessment procedure for dual study programs. This allows for a fairer and more individualised assessment of applicants, which is a great advantage for those who define their skills by more than just school grades. NORDAKADEMIE also has a specially developed online assessment process that applicants first go through. The procedure includes a maths and English test, an intelligence test, a personality test and a motivation test, which take a total of around 2 hours. The grade point average of the last four half-year reports is also included in the assessment.

Proof of your German language skills is not required at the start of the program, but we recommend a level comparable to C2 in order to be able to take part in the program without any problems. The language of instruction is German and examinations are also taken in German.

Double application for a study place - at NORDAKADEMIE and at the partner company  👜

It is also essential to make contact with potential practice partners at an early stage. Networking at an early stage can not only help to secure one of the coveted places for practical learning, but also enables students to gain valuable insights into the professional field and assess whether the partner company matches their own professional goals and expectations. NORDAKADEMIE's free list of study places will help you to find the best practice partner for you. On the linked websites of the companies, you can then find out about the respective requirements for applying to the company.

What costs can be expected? 💸

Your wallet stays well-filled! NORDAKADEMIE is a private university, but does not charge students tuition fees. During the seven semesters of standard study time, the practice partners cover the tuition fees and also pay you an industry-standard training salary. Even during the theoretical phases on campus! You only have to cover any costs for teaching materials yourself - but these remain manageable.

There are also living costs - you will need a flat for your time on campus. You are welcome to take a look at our student residences. You will also need somewhere to stay near your partner company for the practical phase - NORDAKADEMIE cooperates with many companies in northern Germany that are within easy reach of the campus, but also has partners throughout Germany. Please note: the dormitories on the Elmshorn campus are rented on a semester basis.
