Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Study information
NORDAKADEMIE's MBA program is the first business degree program ever to be awarded a premium seal by FIBAA. Our exceptional educational offering also ranks first in other rankings. The program includes practice-relevant content developed together with the business community. In 2023, a new edition of NORDAKADEMIE's most comprehensive master's program will start. The updated material includes macroeconomic developments and here in particular topics such as digitalization and corporate social responsibility. This will further sharpen your profile in the areas of leadership and innovation.
The classes are bilingual and based on the Anglo-Saxon study system. It is therefore essentially based on case studies. The curriculum of your two-year MBA program include:
Basic modules
- General business administration
- Scientific work and ethics
- Basics of accounting
Other fundamentals
- Digital Business Development
- Strategy development and implementation
- Sustainable business management
- Corporate communications
- Analysis of data sets from an international perspective
Compulsory and elective modules
- Operational Management
- Human resource management in a global environment
- International Marketing
- International Corporate Management
Elective modules
- Finance and Accounting
- General Management
- Operations Management
- Leadership
In class discussions with native speakers, you will also learn a lot about cultural differences and international ways of thinking. Since all students have professional experience, interdisciplinary business know-how flows practically "on top" into your education.
Another benefit: You can attend a study trip to China, India or South Africa and the International Week of the IPADE Business School. This provides you with a direct insight into the culture and business practices of other countries.
It takes 5 months to complete your master's thesis. You can write it in German or English.
And even more benefits from the new edition of the program starting in October 2023:
The NORDAKADEMIE MBA adopts the macroeconomic developments that have occurred in the meantime, especially digitalization and CSR. The new MBA sharpens the existing profile in the areas of leadership and innovation.
The content of the modules and classes in the first year of the study program is initially generalist and then becomes increasingly specialized. Here, the teaching takes into account the continuous growth in competence of the students. The second year of the study program then serves to deepen knowledge in the individually selected special areas such as Finance & Accounting or General Management.
The degree is completed with a part-time master's thesis in German or English. Either a business problem from the student's professional environment or a task from the research area of NORDAKADEMIE can be scientifically solved.
The MBA program lasts 24 months and is divided into two academic years of 12 months each:
- If studies begin in April, from April 1 to March 31 of the following year.
- From October 1 to September 30 of the following year if the program begins in October.
This division of studies takes into account that students have a disproportionately higher time requirement than full-time students due to their work-related workload and possible family circumstances. The extension of the total duration of study reduces the burden on students in the ongoing study program.
Structure and didactic concept
The compulsory and elective modules each comprise an attendance phase of 25 hours (2.5 days) to 30 hours (3 days). They always start on Monday, Wednesday afternoon or Thursday.
Following the blended learning principle, students prepare the lessons at home before the attendance phase and afterwards here as well. Self-study guides are used for preparation, which are usually made available to the students with sufficient advance notice before the attendance phases, together with the required teaching material.
The didactic concept of the MBA program at NORDAKADEMIE, based on case studies and small groups, is consistently designed to ensure that the qualification goals can be achieved despite the overall workload. It is based on the experience of more than 20 years of successful study program management and is continuously developed further.
The excellent success rate of MBA graduates proves that, despite the demands, our students are not only very likely to achieve the degree, but often do gratifyingly well in the process.
In the MBA program at NORDAKADEMIE, you will acquire far-reaching leadership skills and be able to develop your practice-relevant social competencies in a targeted manner. With us you will learn from the best - our dedicated lecturers from leading international universities such as Queens University or Manchester Business School.
Since the program is not only bilingual, but also accompanied by a large number of foreign native speakers, you will expand your communication skills and open up global career opportunities.
Thus equipped, you can enter the management level of companies or pursue a position in the senior service. Many companies consider MBAs and PhDs to be equivalent when it comes to filling top positions. Beyond that, however, your MBA will also allow you to pursue a doctorate and also serve as an excellent foundation for successful self-employment.
Not to be forgotten: An MBA is the gold standard everywhere in the world and increases your market value considerably. This is already reflected in the salary level in the medium term.
An important factor in choosing an MBA program is the faculty. Our faculty members from leading international universities in different countries bring a variety of perspectives and experiences to the classroom, enriching the students' learning environment. The lecturers have years of experience in their fields and have extensive practical knowledge to pass on to students.

Admission requirements
The prerequisite for admission to the MBA program at NORDAKADEMIE is a degree from a German or foreign university that is recognized in Germany and one year of qualified professional experience after this first academic degree. Unfortunately, practical periods from dual study programs do not count. In addition, you need English skills at B2 level or a passed in-house English test.
Good to know: No prior knowledge of business administration is required. Our program is therefore ideally suited for students with other professional backgrounds, e.g. engineers, doctors or humanities graduates.
A total of 300 credits are required for the master's degree, including doctoral eligibility. Since the master's program comprises only 90 credits, applicants with fewer than 210 credits from their first degree must make up the missing credits before graduating with a master's degree. In this case, admission is granted on the condition that the missing credits are made up before graduation from the master's program.
Also a C1 level in German is required to study at NORDAKADEMIE.
Missing credit points
Since the Master's programs at NORDAKADEMIE comprise a total of 90 credits, if you have a Bachelor's degree with 180 credits, you still have to make up 30 credits by the time you graduate. You can do so before, during or after the standard period of study in the Master.
You can acquire missing credit points at the NORDAKADEMIE through
- up to two term papers with 10 credit points each
- successful completion of continuing education modules of 5 credit points each
- successful completion of a certificate course for 30 credits each
Term papers
You propose the topics for the assignments yourself and agree them with the examiner by submitting an exposé. Topics for which you already have prior knowledge, e.g. from professional practice or from continuing education modules, are suitable. You can begin with a term paper even before the start of the actual Master's program.
Important: Prerequisite is admission to the Master's program and payment of the first tuition fee. After receipt of payment, you will receive your access data and can register the term paper via the internal campus information system. For information on additional fees, please refer to the current fee schedule. It is due upon confirmation of the topic.
Further education modules
After admission to the Master's program or after payment of the first tuition fee, you can also take continuing education modules. You can complete these - as well as the term papers - before starting the actual Master's program. Costs can be found in the current fee schedule. We will confirm successful participation with a certificate.
