IT-Engineering (B.Sc.)
Study information
IT engineers and technical computer scientists develop and operate so-called intelligent systems. These require powerful microcontroller units with network connections, sensors and actuators, as well as software that controls all hardware components and communicates with other control systems. Often, these systems perform their service invisibly in the background. Increasingly, as "cyber-physical" systems, they no longer work completely autonomously, but outsource parts of the functionality to a server infrastructure.
The design and operation of such complex systems require interdisciplinary knowledge at the interface of engineering and computer science. With this study program, NORDAKADEMIE closes the gap and prepares you for the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0.
You will gain extensive expertise in digital technology, computer architecture, networks, hardware-related software development, software engineering and architecture, modeling and software quality. You will also acquire key competencies in infrastructure systems and IT security.
In the elective area you can focus on various industries, e.g. in these areas:
- Medical Technology
- Power engineering
- Automotive industry
- Information and communication technology
- Aerospace
- Environmental technology
- Traffic engineering
Thanks to the dual system, the content of your study program is closely linked to the requirements of your training company.
Please note that the curriculum is in German, as a C1 level is required to study at NORDAKADEMIE.

Studium Generale
To ensure that NORDAKADEMIE can provide you with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education, your participation in seminars from our extensive range is a mandatory part of the curriculum.
More than 100 selectable seminar events complement the compulsory and examination subjects with courses on personal development as well as current management and subject-related topics. They cover the entire course of study and are independent of the content of the subject modules.
Information on registering for and deregistering from seminars and on compulsory participation in seminars can be found in the "Seminar Information Sheet" at CIS intranet.
Academical education and corporate practice are more permeated than ever by scientific processes. In order to be able to learn efficiently right from the start, it is therefore important that you are able to work scientifically and make optimal use of the relevant methods. Appropriately, in the first semester there is the seminar course "Scientific Work and Methods", which must be attended by all students.
Foreign languages
NORDAKADEMIE's foreign language program is a central component of the dual Bachelor's degree program to ensure that you are well positioned internationally. We meet the growing demands on language skills with foreign language courses as compulsory elective subjects or as part of the voluntary seminars.
The language of instruction and examination is German, unless the subject module is taught in English. Other languages can be chosen individually in the Studium Generale.
Our native speakers not only teach in their own language, they also impart know-how about the respective national culture. Lessons take place in small groups according to previous knowledge.
At NORDAKADEMIE you can acquire internationally recognized certificates. These include the:
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English
- Diplôme de Français des Affaires de la Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie de Paris
More information under: Studium Generale.

Application process
1. Preparation phase
First of all, find out here what dual study means and what advantages a dual study program has for you. Also take a look at the list of study places 2024 or list of study places 2025 in the desired starting period. We recommend that you draw up a list of companies where you would like to complete the practical part of your training. Think about your goals and wishes (e.g. industry, location, course of study) and choose companies that suit you and your ideas.
Problems with decision making? No problem! Our student advisors will be happy to advise you in detail.
2. Selection procedure
Your second step towards studying with us is the online selection procedure (this is not yet an application!). The procedure involves entering the grades of your last four half-year reports (German/Math/English), a math and English test, a personality test, and a motivation test. Take two and a half hours and keep your reports at hands. Two to three working days after you have completed the test, you will receive a downloadable PDF showing whether you have passed or not. Have the PDF ready for step 3.
3. Application to our partner companies
Have you successfully passed the selection process? Great, then you're almost there! Now take your company wish list from step 1, because the third and final step is your application to the partner company. You can find out more about the application requirements for each company on their websites. When formulating your application, respond individually to the companies and avoid "collective applications".
Send your application together with the selection procedure PDF to the partner companies of your choice or use their application portal to upload the files.
Duration of study
Theory/practice transfer
Transfer performances serve to document learned connections between theory and practice. Here you can show that you can link the competencies acquired in the company with the contents taught in the theory phases, evaluate them on the basis of these and place them in an overall context within the course of study.
