Erasmus+ is an EU funding program that promotes stays abroad within Europe. The advantages of the program:

  • You receive funding for semesters abroad at NORDAKADEMIE's Erasmus+ partner universities
  • You do not pay tuition fees at the foreign universities
  • More information on Erasmus+ (Your NORDAKADEMIE: Dual Bachelor's degree - Semester abroad - ERASMUS+)

Even if you are not eligible for BAföG in Germany, you may still be eligible for BAföG abroad. International BAföG can cover travel costs, tuition fees and monthly living expenses. Further information on BAföG abroad can be found here.

PROMOS funding

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports this program with funds from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which aims to increase the mobility of students at German universities.

What is funded?

  • A semester abroad outside Europe, which can be a free-mover semester or a semester at a partner university.
  • Stays in Europe can only be funded if the university is not an Erasmus+ partner university.
  • Minimum stay 3 months

DAAD scholarships

The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) has a variety of funding opportunities in its scholarship database, which can be found here. The HAW International scholarship is particularly interesting for universities of applied sciences, further information on this scholarship can be found here. If you enjoy social media or blogging, then the Studieren Weltweit. ERLEBE ES! is the right thing for you, you report directly from abroad and receive an expense allowance and a smartphone in return.

In the course of globalization, intercultural skills have become increasingly important in the world of work, especially in multinational corporations and institutions. However, immigration and the shortage of skilled workers are also leading to an increasingly culturally diverse working environment in which employees with the relevant skills are needed.

By acquiring the Certificate of Intercultural Competence (CIC), students have the opportunity to develop or expand their intercultural skills and thus stand out from others on the job market. With the CIC, students are well prepared for an international career and have the opportunity to gain valuable experience on the global stage during their studies.

The CIC consists of a total of four modules, at least three of which must be completed in order to receive the certificate. Various selection criteria are available for each module, which must be fulfilled in order to obtain the certificate. Only evidence of non-curricular activities completed during the course of study will be recognized. This means that all courses taken to obtain the Bachelor's certificate may not be used again for the CIC.

Is a semester abroad also possible in the Master's program?

We have not concluded any cooperation agreements for our Master's degree programs, as semesters abroad are rather rare in the Master's degree program. However, if you are interested in a semester abroad, we will be happy to support you!

Our partner universities are intended for our Bachelor's degree programs, but if you are still interested in a partner university, you are welcome to contact us.

For Master's students, a so-called freemover semester is also possible, whereby the student chooses the foreign university independently. If you would like to find out more, you can book appointments with the International Office here.

Dual study in the USA?

Yes, you can!

Nordakademie_and_College_of_Charleston_Logos

The new German-American Co-op Program, a cooperation between the College of Charleston (SC) and NORDAKADEMIE, is the first dual study model based on the German model in the USA.

As part of their Bachelor's degree in International Engineering & Management (B.Eng.), students complete:

>> 2 to 2.5 years in the USA (theory at the College of Charleston and practice in the training partner company in the USA)

>> 0.5 to 1 year in Germany (theory at NORDAKADEMIE and, if applicable, practical experience at the training partner company in Germany)

> Depending on whether part of the practical phase can be completed in DE <

What do you need for this?

In addition to the usual NORDAKADEMIE admission requirements, you need a practice partner that is active in the USA and participates in this program - such as the company Mankiewizc. This US company can be located anywhere in the USA, as the College of Charleston offers attractive residences.
